In 2010-2011, Crissey Elementary School surpassed previous excellent ratings to achieve the highest rating of "EXCELLENT " with a Performance Index of 102.9 from the Ohio Department of Education based on the academic performance of our students - the highest rating possible in the State of Ohio.  We are very proud of the entire Crissey family - students, parents, faculty, and staff - for being recognized for this outstanding academic achievement. We truly are committed to being exceptional - - without exception!

Crissey Elementary School demonstrates that the district’s mission to provide “exceptional education for today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders,” is more than a collection of words on a page. It is a philosophy that each faculty and staff member uses to meet the challenge of giving each student every opportunity to succeed in life with a strong educational foundation.  In the past,  Crissey has been awarded the prestigious "Hall of Fame" award from the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators. This award is the result of a commitment to academic achievement, character education, outstanding personnel, community involvement, and leadership!

Crissey faculty and staff believe that the basic building block of education begins at the elementary school level, and we work hand-in-hand with parents and extended family members, business and professional leaders, and elected officials to provide both a nurturing and challenging environment that challenges each student to perform at his/her highest level or achievement.

Testimonial from Crissey Parents
Dana and Geoff Nehren
"We moved to the Holland area ten years ago.  Since neither of us grew up in the Northwest Ohio area, we had no idea what Springfield Local School District would offer for our boys.  Should we go public or private?  With any major decision, we decided to do some research.
When our boys reached the preschool age, we took time out and went to visit Crissey Elementary.  We were welcomed with open arms and given a top-notch tour of the building easing any questions or concerns regarding the District.  It was crystal clear to us at that time that Crissey would be the right choice for our boys.  Jacob and Travis are now entering the Fourth Grade at Crissey Elementary.  We can confidently say that they have received an EXCELLENT education each and every year.  Since the boys are in separate classrooms, we've had the honor to get to know twice the amount of Crissey teachers over the years!  Each and every one of these teachers have gone out of their way to help the boys advance.  The love and compassion that they have showed my family is immeasurable.
We know how stressful and overwhelming it can be to move into a new area.  Worrying about making the right educational choice for your child can be a top concern when relocating.  We wanted to take a moment and share with any fellow "new" Springfield Local School District families that Springfield is, by far, the best choice for your son or daughter."

Principal's Weekly Message:

100th Day of School
Monday, January 30th marked the 100th day of the 2011-2012 school year.  This is never an ordinary day at Crissey Elementary.

Our creative teachers always plan fun learning activities with a 100th Day theme.  Some of the events that took place were kindergarten students making and eating a 30-foot long Ice Cream Sunday with over 100 toppings; first grade students participated in a 100th Day Olympics during which they had to kick 100 soccer goals, shoot 100 baskets, bowl over 100 pins, do 100 sit-ups, and toss 100 rings; second grade students played math games that could only be won by scoring 100 points.  Many other 100 day activities were held throughout the building.  Students and staff alike always enjoy this fun filled day!
