In 2008-2009, Crissey Elementary School maintained its rating of "EXCELLENT" from the Ohio Department of Education based on the academic performance of our students - the highest rating possible in the State of Ohio. We also raised our Performance Index score to a high of 103.1! We are very proud of the entire Crissey family - students, parents, faculty, and staff - for being recognized for this outstanding academic achievement. We truly are committed to being exceptional - - without exception!
Crissey Elementary School demonstrates that the district’s mission to provide “exceptional education for today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders,” is more than a collection of words on a page. It is a philosophy that each faculty and staff member uses to meet the challenge of giving each student every opportunity to succeed in life with a strong educational foundation. During the late spring of 2008, Crissey was awarded the prestigious "Hall of Fame" award from the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators. This award is the result of a commitment to academic achievement, character education, outstanding personnel, community involvement, and leadership!
Crissey faculty and staff believe that the basic building block of education begins at the elementary school level, and we work hand-in-hand with parents and extended family members, business and professional leaders, and elected officials to provide both a nurturing and challenging environment that challenges each student to perform at his/her highest level or achievement.

Testimonial from Crissey parents Jay & Amy Fleischmann
“There are several items within Crissey that are above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to what a school's roles and responsibilities are. First and foremost, the positive attitude and professional abilities of the staff members has not only aided our children's education but has helped tremendously in implementing the concept of everyone doing their part to promote learning for all. Crissey has helped us to be better parents and better people in our community as well. We never imagined that we would be involved in such community-based extra-curricular activities yet due to the nature in which Crissey presents them, we take absolute joy in doing so! Finally and most prominently, Crissey develops leaders . . . Simply stated, if we could do it all over again and had any choice of school, Crissey Elementary would unquestionably be at the top of our list."

MAJI UPDATE Crissey staff and students so appreciate the attention that is given to our projects and achievements by the Journal newspaper. Recently, the newspaper ran a story on the efforts of Crissey 4th grade teacher Mrs. Lori Hunter and her students to help purchase a "play pump" for a village in Africa. Well, the students got another lesson in generosity from one Journal reader . . . when they returned to school from Spring Break, they found a letter congratulating them on their efforts and with it was enclosed five crisp $100 bills! The only thing that the Journal reader, who signed their letter "A Concerned Citizen" asked was that we keep readers up to date on the student's progress towards their goal of raising $7000 and, once met, the location of the well.
We can do that! Mrs. Hunter told us just this week that the well/play pump is to be located in KwaZula-Natar, in the garden province of South Africa, near New Castle. Thank you Journal staff and readers for your support of this and all Crissey projects. There is a lot buzzing in our bee hive - stop in and see!
