In 2011, each of the Springfield Schools' cafeterias, following on-site inspections, received an A+ from the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department! This has become a tradition and reflects the dedication of the staff who prepare nutritious and delicious breakfast and lunch meals on site for students in each of the district's six school buildings. To ensure that children receive the highest nutritional quality possible, school meals do not include any fried items, offer fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grain bread products and cereals.
Over the past six years, the district has taken advantage of technology to offer both students and parents the convenience of the (Point of Sale) POS system. Parents can deposit funds into student accounts using envelops provided at the school or via credit/debit cards through the new "Easy Lunch Pay" program introduced in August, 2011. Click here for a brochure explaining the new program. For those choosing cash/credit options, deposit drop boxes are located in each school's main office. Users enjoy the increased privacy, security - plus, parents can access on-line reports that detail both student food purchases and remaining account balances. Notes can be added to accounts should food allergies or other issues be present.
