exceptional - without exception

Holloway and the Hundredth's Day

Wow, old man winter is being pretty calm so far this year, one has to guess if Mr. Ground Hog will predict six more weeks of winter or an early spring.  Well, either way, with more winter or an early spring, the students at Holloway Elementary recently made it to the 100th day of school.  Many teachers and students celebrated 100th day with special activities and events.  Kindergartners made special 100 day glasses or crowns, and second graders had special 100 day math activities.   Our first grade classes participated in special activities.  The students in Mrs. Bork's/Mrs.Walter's, Mrs. Ludwig's, and Mrs. Persinger's classes were totally involved in a collage of events from examining their 100 item collections, building 100 piece puzzles, stamping out a 100's chart, reading 100 seconds out loud one at a time, and playing a 100 math game. Thank you to the many parent helpers who assisted with the various activities.  In our primary grades the students, on a daily basis, keep track of the days of schools and use the day's number for calendar time, number lines, patterns, and grouping activities.  With just over 100 days completed we are now on our way to counting to 180 or May 31, 2012 the last day of school.  That is if old man winter doesn't change things a bit.
